In commemoration of the global 16 days of activism against Gender-based Violence GBV themed;
“Arange the world: Fund, Respond, Prevent and Collect”,
Osun State First Lady, Mrs Kafayat Oyetola has solicited for an urgent end to the GBV in the country. Mrs Oyetola who joined 25 Nigerian Governors Wives from all zones in the country that have been working together to mitigate all forms of GBV, to attend its First annual conference Wednesday in Abuja, described GBV as barbaric and uncivilized practice which could jeopardize meaningful and much needed human capital development, saying the inhuman behavior must be fought to a standstill.
The conference which kicked off with a policy dialogue session, focused on Political will to deal with the menace.
The dialogue which involved State Governors, was led by the Chairman of the Governors Forum and Ekiti State Governor, Dr Kayode Fayemi, while his counterparts from Ondo, Kogi, Niger and Plateau states were also in attendance.
The policy dialogue also provided a platform for a range of stakeholders to reflect on sub- national interventions, highlight ways which Governors Wives are supporting the fight against GBV and also to fine tune the strengthening of partnerships, networking and information sharing.
