In line with global best practice of allowing citizens have an input the formulation of the budget, the State Government of Osun is organizing a Citizens’ Consultative Engagement Forum on the 2022 Budget estimate across the three Senatorial districts of the state.
Organised through the Ministry of Economic Planning and Budget in conjunction with the State Fiscal Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability (SFTAS) Programme,
the forum will create an avenue for citizens to have input in the projects in the draft of the year 2022 estimates before being taken to the House of Assembly for consideration and passage into law.
According to a statement signed by the Commissioner for Economic Planning and Budget, Proff. Olalekan Yinusa, the Adegboyega Oyetola administration expects only the need of the masses to go into the State’s budget, so as to let the people feel the impact of government.
The consultative forum which starts on Tuesday this week will hold across the three Senatorial districts of the state which include Osun Central, Osun East and Osun West where residents are expected to meet with officials of Government and say what they want to be in the budget.
The Forum which commences on Tuesday at Osun Central will hold at Ila-Orangun, it will be the turn of Osun East on Wednesday which will be held in Ilesa while that of Osun West will hold at Ikire on Thursday.
Expected at the citizens engagement across the three Senatorial districts include: Council Chairmen, Council Secretaries, Council Managers, Selected local government staff, Market Men and Women.
Others expected at the programme which starts by 9 O’clock in the morning each day are Civil Society Organizations(CSOs), Religious leaders, Community Development Associations(CDAs) and Community Police Relations Committee(CPRC).
