Osun state government has described the presidential candidate of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as a leader with proven track record of capacity to manage Nigeria’s dynamic sociopolitical terrain.
This followed the emergence of Tinubu last Wednesday as the presidential flag beater of the APC ahead of 2023 general elections.
In a congratulatory statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Prince Wole Oyebamiji, Osun government said Tinubu’s emergence came as no surprise given his huge investment in the unity of Nigeria.
The statement read in part: “The government and the good people of Osun congratulate former Lagos State governor, National Leader of the All Progressive Congress, and a mentor par excellence in the Nigerian political space, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on his emergence as the ruling party’s presidential flag bearer, in the recently concluded special convention of the party.
“His emergence is no surprise to us here in Osun, given his huge investment in the unity of Nigeria, and his consistent quest to see progressive governance entrenched across the country, from the centre to the component units.
“Undoubtedly, Nigeria needs an experienced politician at this time in its history, a leader with proven track record of capacity to manage a dynamic socio-political terrain. With Asiwaju flying the flag of the All Progressive Congress in the 2023 election, Nigeria is finally on the road to a new brighter day.
“We congratulate the progressive family for this step in the right direction, and especially laud the well-coordinated and credible process that produced this exceptional candidate.
“We wish Asiwaju all the best in the events leading to the general election in 2023, and look forward to celebrating a landslide victory at the presidential poll.”
