Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security in the State of Osun , Hon. Adedayo Adewole has bagged the award of the Best Commissioner of Agriculture in South West Nigeria for the year 2021.
The award which was in recognition of Adewole’s contributions to the growth and development of Agriculture not only in Osun but throughout the south west states in Nigeria was conferred on him in Akure, the Ondo State capital at an event organized by the African Agriculture Monitor Magazine.
Hon.Adewole in his acceptance speech appreciated God to no end for the honour and recognition.
He dedicated it to the governor of the state of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, for giving him the opportunity to showcase his passion and expertise in the field of Agriculture.
While thanking the organisers of the program for finding him worthy and fit for the award, he called on his brother South west Commissioners for Agriculture to form a collective synergy to achieve common goals of availability of food, youth employment and the procurement of funds to boost Agriculture throughout the south west and Nigeria as a whole.
The Commissioner equally called on farmers in the south west states to make integrity one of their cardinal virtues in their day-to-day farming activities to boost food security and availability.
Hon.Adewole also lauded both the federal and state governments of Osun and emphasised that food was very essential in the day to day affairs of people.
The Commissoner particularly acknowledged and commended the Agricultural Programmes and policies of Oyetola-led administration in the state of Osun,stressing that at the risk of sounding immodest,Osun remained a state to beat throughout Nigeria in the field of Agriculture.
Earlier in his address of welcome, the publisher of African Agriculture Monitor Magazine, Mr Oludaisi Adetarami, said that the award conferred on Hon. Adewole was carefully arrived at after series of achievements acknowledged to have been made by the Commissoner in the field of Agriculture since his Inauguration as one of the cabinet members in Oyetola led administration.
Describing him as a role model for other Commissoners in the field of Agriculture in the South West, Mr Adetarami, stressed that the award should further spur him on to do more for the good people of the State of Osun and Nigeria in general.
