The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Committee for Osun State Congress, Hon. Gbenga Elegbeleye, on Friday, described members of the Osun APC as men and women who have given a good account of themselves as loyal and focused party members, ahead of Saturday’s State Congress.
Elegbeleye lauded the cooperation of Osun APC party members for the success of the Ward and Local Government congresses, adding that he anticipates a replica of same conduct during the State Congress.
This was as Elegbeleye lauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for exemplifying the Omoluabi ethos.
Elegbeleye, while addressing the members during the Osun State Congress Committee Stakeholders’ Meeting at APC State Secretariat, Osogbo, also promised that the Committee would do everything possible to champion transparency and fairness to ensure a successful exercise.
He also announced that the Congress, which will be conducted at the Osogbo City Stadium, will be a concensus but voting Congress.
In his remark, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, commended the National Committee for ensuring successful congresses so far, adding that he had no doubt that the State Congress would also be successful.
Oyetola, who also lauded the outgoing Osun APC Caretaker Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun, for his industry and commitment to the party, called on members not to betray the commendation the state had received from the National Committee.
“I congratulate the outgoing Chairman for doing a wonderful job over the years. He has been very consistent. I thank you for your stewardship and for ensuring the party remains the way it should be. I thank you for your sense of industry and commitment to the party.
“I must thank members of the Committee from Abuja, they have done wonderfully well. They have conducted a very successful Ward Congress and Local Government Congress, and I believe that they will conduct a very successful State Congress tomorrow.
“To our members, let us conduct ourselves as the Omoluabi that we are. There must be no form of acrimony at all. You must follow all the guidelines set by the Committee for the accreditation and screening. Please conduct yourselves peacefully and observe all Covid-19 protocols
“I have no doubt in my heart that tomorrow will be very peaceful. This is a way of demonstrating our capacity to select people that will represent us and manage the affairs of the party for another four years. This shouldn’t create any form of problem.
“I wish the outgoing executives success in their future engagements”, Oyetola said.
In their separate remarks, the Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Rt Hon. Timothy Owoeye, former Speaker of House of Representatives, Hon. Foluke Etteh, and former Deputy Governor, Mrs Titi Laoye-Ponle, called on members to conduct themselves as good party men for the sake of preserving the vibrancy of APC in the State.
