The newly-appointed Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board for the State of Osun, Hon. Ajibola Famurewa, has called on the citizens of the state to be cautious and deliberate in choosing those who will represent them at the coming local government elections even as he canvassed for greater support for the development agenda of the ruling Party in the state.
Speaking during a courtesy visit paid on him by the three cabinet members from the Odo Otin federal constituency: Deputy Chief of Staff (Prince Adeyanju Binuyo), Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation (Mrs Funke Egbemode) and the Special Adviser to the Governor of the State of Osun on Water Resources and Energy (Hon. Felix Adeniran Ibitoye); Hon. Famurewa said those aspiring for local government offices must be carefully screened
In his words, “As the election for Local Government Chairmen and Councillors is fast approaching, we must be very careful in selecting the right candidates. Let us not take anything for granted.”
Famurewa further counselled citizens to be conscious in electing people who can be relied on, adding that “the calibre of people that should be elected are those who can add value to the system. We all must resist the temptation to be sentimental in choosing our representatives at the local government level because they are the closest to us. ”
He also counselled party leadership to present credible candidates, mentioning that the choice of candidate that would represent the party will have direct impact on the election.
Famurewa concluded by appreciating the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, for how well he has steered the affairs of the State since his assumption of office.
