Osun State Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Security, Hon Adedayo Adewole today distributed food items to 1,200 vulnerable persons in Ilesa East Local Government Area of Osun State to complement the efforts of Governor Gboyega Oyetola towards cushioning the effect of COVID-19 lockdown on the people of the State.
The ocassion was also used to mark the birthday of Professor Isaac Adewole, the immediate past Nigerian Minister of Health.
Hon. Adewole distributed food items at Iroye, Ilesa East to widows, widowers and other vulnerable groups in the council.
He urged the people to stay safe and obey all the COVID- 19 precautions and rules guiding the lockdown as directed by the State Government and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control( NCDC ).
He stressed further that the people should plan beyond COVID-19 by embracing farming so that they would have food in abundance.
The Commissioner equally used the occasion to charge other private individuals, and corporate bodies to also cultivate the idea of providing succour to the downtrodden in the society that need urgent assistance.
Speaking earlier, one of the leaders of the community at Fadahunsi Community, Ilesa, Mr Kunle Odeyemi appreciated the spirited efforts of Adewole whom he describes as living up to expectations as a good ambassador of Ijesa land, adding that he was not surprised because his choice as Commissioner
for Agriculture and Food Security in the State is a round peg in a round hole.
In their separate remarks, Mrs Rachel Alatise and Mrs Elizabeth Kolawole of Iroye community, expressed gratitude to Adewole for his kind gesture to bring succour to the people of Ilesa and prayed that God elevates him to greater height and protect his entire family members.
