As part of its efforts to cushion the harsh socio-economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, the State Government of Osun is set to flag-off its Enterprise and Empowerment Programme.
The programme, which is a partnership between the Bank of Industry and the State Government of Osun, is an intervention programme aimed at attending to the issue of job loss caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.
It would be recalled that the State of Osun is among the least ranked on poverty index in the country , according to the latest report from the Nigerian Living Standard Survey, ranking only behind Lagos, Nigeria’s commercial hub; and Delta, an oil-producing State and one of the highest revenue earners from Federation Accounts Allocation Committee.
The State Government, as part of measures to sustain its low poverty index, has said that it would attend to the issue of job loss in its Post Covid-19 Intervention programme.
In a release by the Honorable Commissioner for Commerce, Industry, Cooperatives and Empowerment, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, the intervention programme will be flagged off by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola on Thursday, August 6, 2020, at the Industrial Development Center, opposite St. Charles Grammar School, Osogbo by 12:00 noon prompt.
