The President of the Trade Union Congress of Nigeria (TUC), Comrade Quadri Olaleye, has commended Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of the State of Osun for prioritising the welfare of workers in the state.

He also lauded the Governor for ensuring prompt and regular payment of workers’ salaries, wages and other emoluments despite the adverse effects of the global Coronavirus pandemic on the economy.

Olaleye gave the commendation while delivering his speech during the 2020 Triennial Delegates Conference of Osun State Council of TUC, in Osogbo, the State capital.

The TUC president acknowledged the commitment of the state government at repositioning the economy of the state for the good of the citizens.

He said: “May I  use this medium to commend the Governor of Osun State, His Excellency, Mr. Gboyega Oyetola, for the payment of April and May, 2020 salaries despite the challenges posed by the covid-19 pandemic. ”

Olaleye lamented the rising insecurity cases in the country, attributing the menace to high rate of unemployment that has resulted in youth restiveness.

He urged governments at all levels to formulate policies that could create job opportunities to absorb the teeming unemployed youths, saying “this will help to reduce crimes and all forms of social vices in the State”.
