As the federal government announces another phase of the ease of lockdown occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic, Osun Commissioner for Heath, Dr Rafiu Isamotu has warned residents of the State against neglecting the safety protocols rolled out to tame the spread of the virus.

The Commissioner advised that people cannot afford to be relaxed with the dangers of the virus until a scientifically proven vaccine for it  has been discovered.

The frontliner in the fight against the novel Coronavirus stated this while presenting the budget of the Ministry of Health to the State Budget Committee in preparation for the formulation of the 2021 budget for the State of Osun.

The Commissioner who noted that it is dangerous for people to go about their daily lives forgetting about the laid down safety protocols against the virus as if nothing is happening, urged residents of the state to continue using their facemasks wherever they are.

Dr Isamotu said, “It is natural for people to get tired especially because we have been in this since February. But the fact remains that we cannot afford to let our guards down, we can not relax until a scientifically proven vaccine is discovered.

“We know it is not easy, but we still have to be resilient, we can defeat this virus together but we must continue to observe the safety protocols rolled out by the various health authorities.

“It is understandable that people are already eager to go back to their normal lives which have been taken away by the outbreak of the deadly Covid-19. We are all tired of this norm but we need to hang on a little longer.

“We really cannot let our guards down halfway, it is not over until it is over”. He stressed.
