The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) has commended the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, on his commitment to transforming business activities in the State through the International Trade Centre project at Dagbolu.
The DPR Zonal Operations Controller, Lagos Zonal Office, Mr Ayo Cardoso, while receiving the Osun State Commissioner for Commerce, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun in company of the DPR Osogbo Field Officer, Mr Ogunnubi Olusegun in his office, added that the Dagbolu International Market project would be a great enabler for the nation’s economy when it becomes fully operational.
He assured Osun government of the DPR’s full support to the project, which he described as both a business enabler and an opportunity provider.
In his remarks, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry in the State of Osun, Dr. Bode Olaonipekun, stated that the visit was to synergise with the Department on the ongoing International Trade Centre (ITC) project in the State, which is projected be a major business hub in the Southwest.
He said that the Centre had been a transit hub for rail transportation in the past, as rail lines running from Apapa in Lagos State to the Northern parts of the Country passes through the Centre.
He added that the Oyetola-led Government is seeking to establish a business model that would have the capability to receive and distribute Petroleum products, amongst other product categories, through rail.
Olaonipekun disclosed that the International Trade Centre is designed to have the following a dry port, an industrial area, a storage area (wet and dry warehousing), a commercial and residential area and an automobile market, amongst other business components.
