In commemoration of the World Press Freedom Day, Commissoner for information and Civic orientation in the State of Osun,Mrs Funke Egbemode has sent a message of love, goodwill and solidarity to her fellow media practitioners not only in the state of Osun, Nigeria but the world at large.

Notwithstanding the attendant encumbrances which over the years have limited the age-old profession , Mrs Egbemode , in the goodwill message applauded the tenacity of purpose with which the practitioners have gone about their duties.

She, however, affirmed and acknowledged the need for a conducive working environment for journalists to thrive so that members of the Fourth Estate of the realm will not only have a sense of belonging but commitment to give their best in the course of their constitutionally assigned roles and responsibilities to the government and the governed.

While describing the practitioners in the State of Osun as good and thorough bred professionals , the Information Commissoner lauded their love and support for the present administration in the State of Osun- led by Mr Adegboyega Oyetola.

She used the opportunity provided by the World Press Freedom Day to call on journalists in the State of Osun and Nigeria as a whole to continue to be partners in progress with the Oyetola-led people centred administration just as she in turn pledged the administration’s commitment to continue to serve the people diligently and conscientiously.

“I commend members of the Fourth Estate of the realm in the state of Osun. They are not only exemplars in this noble trade but thoroughly groomed professionals who have been partners in progress for the Oyetola-led administration in the last two years . We have never had it so good and rewarding” said Egbemode.

On the theme of this year’s celebration which is anchored on “Information as a public good ” the former President,Nigeria Guild of Editors noted that the choice is apt and timely stressing that the trend all over the world now is to use Information as a veritable tool to advance the course of humanity for good.
