Three siblings and five other young children have been reportedly found dead in a car said to be parked at Adelayo Street along Badagry Expressway, Lagos State.
It was reported that the children were found dead in a parked vehicle owned by a woman named Saliat Kassim.
The owner of the vehicle, Mrs Kassim whose grandchild is said to be among the victims of the incident is in detention presently.
The Lagos State Police Command who confirmed the incident to newsmen said the children were said to have mistakenly locked themselves in an abandoned car while playing.
CSP Adekunle Ajisebutu, the Command’s spokesperson said the bodies of the deceased children have been recovered and deposited at the Badagry General Hospital’s morgue for an autopsy so as to determine the actual cause of death.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered a thorough and speedy investigation into the circumstances surrounding their death. The CP also commiserates with the families of the victims,” he added.
