Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has beckoned on co-contenders in the recently conducted primary election of the All Progressive Congress, to eschew bitterness and lend their contributions towards building the State.
Oyetola was declared the winner of the February 19 contest, having polled 222,169 votes, against Alhaji Moshood Adeoti’s 12,921 votes and Hon. Lasun Yusuff’s 460 votes.
Adeoti, a former Secretary to Osun State Government, and Yusuff, a former Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, belong to the splinter group with the Party, known as TOP.
The group also consist of people that are loyal to former governor and current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola.
But Oyetola, in his acceptance speech following his emergence as the candidate from the primary of the APC in Osun, extended the olive branch to other aspirants and aggrieved members of the Party.
According to Oyetola: “With this primary election now concluded, I invite us all to rededicate ourselves and the party to delivering an overwhelming victory at the gubernatorial polls holding on Saturday, 16th July, 2022.
“For me, we are all winners. I, therefore, extend my hand of fellowship to the other two aspirants to join me as we prepare for the July election. We are all brothers. Let’s join hands to build the Osun of our dream.
“Let us close ranks and eschew bitterness in whatever form. Therefore, may I use this opportunity to also ask all our aggrieved members to have a rethink and join hands with us to further strengthen our party and deliver outstanding results at the gubernatorial poll”, he said.
