The chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota local government area, Mr. Sheriff Adewale Musa, on Wednesday, ordered residents of of Itori area of the local government to vacate the area amid reports of gas leakage.

Musa, while receiving a report from the team of Shell Nigeria Gas led by Mr Tunde Olakeke, the External Relations Manager, about the leakage of the gas pipelines along Itori Village via Iyesi Ota, gave the vacation order pending when the pipeline would be fixed.

Speaking during the inspection, Mr. Tunde Olakeke stated that it would require three to four weeks for Shell Nigeria to fix the damaged portions of the pipelines.

The Baale of Itori Community, Chief Adeolu Adeyinka, who was also present during the inspection of the damaged gas pipelines, appreciated the quick intervention.

The local government chairman applauded Shell for extending its corporate social responsibilites to Ado-Odo/Ota local government area through the road palliative measures linking Iyana-Iyesi to Itori community and the provision of good water project for Itori community.

He urged other companies to emulate the kind gesture.
