The Governor of the State of Osun,Mr Adegboyega Oyetola has described the late distinguished professor of Systems Engineering and former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos , Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe, as a pride to the government and people of the state of Osun and Nigeria in general.
According to the Governor, Prof Ibidapo Obey while alive was known for his dedication and selfless service to God and humanity.
The State Governor made this known at Holy Trinity Cathedral Church, Omofe Ilesha during the burial service held in honour of the late professor Oyewusi Ibidapo-Obe.
Governor Oyetola who was represented at the event by the Secretary to the State Government of Osun, Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji, noted with satisfaction the late professors indelible impacts in and outside the academia where his image loomed so large like a colossus.
While further extolling his priceless qualities of love,humility,dedication and Godliness, the Osun helmsman maintained that Ibodapo-Obe’s good name will keep him in the hearts of the many lives he touched Nigeria and especially in the annals of Osun, his home state that he brought national and international fame and recognition.
While consoling the families he left behind to take his death in good faith as the wish of the Lord who gives and takes, the governor enjoined them to sustain the many legacies left behind by the former Vice Chancellor, University of Lagos Oyewusi Ibidapo Obe.
Earlier in his sermon,the Bishop of Ilesha South-West Anglican Communion, Right Reverend Samuel Olukunle Egbebunmi, admonished the congregation to always be prepared for the last day because death just like a debt must surely be paid one day by all living souls.
The cleric maintained that apart from doing good to their fellow human beings , everybody should also allow Christ to rule their world as opposed to inanities and other vainglorious tendencies .
The man of God commended the exemplary life style lived by the late erudite Professor, Ibidapo Obey while on earth.
Dignitaries from far and near attended the burial ceremonies among whom were the Chief Of Staff to the Governor of the state of Osun Dr Charles Diji Akinola, Dr Wale Babalakin, Sir Aladekomo including the incumbent Vice Chancellor of the University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, among others.
