How we’re keeping Osun safe – Oyetola

As part of measures to ensure that the enforcement of lockdown directives in four local government areas of the State yield desired gains, the State Government of Osun has deployed  a strategic blend  of enforcing compliance through security operations and sensitization/public enlightenment.

The strategy was applied in Ilesha East, Ilesha West, Atakumosa East and Atakumosa West local government areas of the State, the four areas where the government ordered a total lockdown to curtail the surge in the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases

The Special Adviser to the Governor of the State of Osun on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige, speaking during the enforcement of the total lockdown at targeted areas, said while security operatives will continue to enforce the lockdown directive of the government through the management of the road blocks on the major roads in the axis, non-adherents to the Government’s orders will  be taken to a centre where they would be sensitized about the dangers of COVID-19 and why they need to comply with the government’s directives.

In her words: “I would advise that the security forces that have been deployed for this assignment take charge of the enforcement exercise, and ensure that what they do is strictly in line with the laid down procedure of the government.

“Anybody found not complying with the protocol should be taken to the place that has been designated for them to be senstized for about two or three hours by the medical team”.

It would be recalled that the Task Force against COVID-19 in the State had last week commenced an enforcement exercise across the State, where non-adherents to the safety protocols against COVID-19 as advised by the NCDC – especially the use of nose mask – were apprehended and made to attend a compulsory safety course.
