As part of the mechanisms for preserving the rich cultural heritage of the Yorubaland, the Ifon-Orolu kingdom is set to celebrate this year’s edition of its Odun-Ade cultural festival on Tuesday, August 11, 2020.

In a statement by the Olufon of Ifon-Orolu, Oba Almaroof Adekunle Magbagbeola, the Odun-Ade cultural festival is aimed at showcasing the age-long tradition and rich culture and custom of Ifon-Orolu.

According to him: “The festival brings together all sons and daughters of Ifon-Orolu, at home and in diaspora, particularly the descendants of Obatala, to Ifon-Orolu their ancestral home for the purpose of celebrating, educating and supplication to their progenitor.

“In addition, it is also to support the State Government and relevant Stakeholders in promoting tourism in Osun State”, he explained.

Amidst concerns about the current global health emergency, the Olufon assured that this year’s festival will not be business as usual, as participation will be limited and participants will be compelled to adhere to the safety protocols set by the government.

He continued: “We are mindful of the current health situation in the State, in the country and in the world. So, for this year’s cultural festival, no mask, no participation.

“I promise to ensure physical distancing and other guidelines set by the State Government and the NCDC protocols”, he noted.
