Osun Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode has commended the administration of Governor Gboyega Oyetola for creating the channels with which agencies of government can generate revenue and boost the economy of the state.
The Commissioner spoke on Wednesday while responding to questions from the State Government Budget Committee at the ongoing bilateral meeting on the formulation of the 2021 budget estimate for the State.
Egbemode who commended Governor Oyetola for approving funds to renovate the conference hall of the Ministry of Information after being razed by fire seven years ago, said the facility will go a long way in adding to the revenue of the Ministry and the State at large.
She also commended the present administration for ensuring that the official portrait of the Governor cannot be gotten from anywhere in the State except at the Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, a move which she said will help check revenue leakages.
The Government spokeswoman also commended the Governor for the amazing financial reengineering technique which has enabled the administration to continue putting smiles on the faces of the masses despite the Covid-19 pandemic and the dwindling allocation from the federation account.
According to her, “We have no other choice right now than to improve our revenue for the benefit of all. The Governor has done the needful by approving funds to renovate our conference room which was razed by fire about 7 years ago.
“With the conference room now in place and equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, we are certain that our revenue will definitely improve because I am certain that we will always get patronage like before.
“I am certain and I assure this committee that we will do better in terms of revenue generation, Mr Governor has supported us in this regard by giving us a tool to generate funds for the State”. She stated.
Speaking on the State’s media house, Osun State Broadcasting Corporation OSBC, Egbemode said despite operating in an unusual economic situation, the Governor is striving to make the media house better by approving funds to get modern equipment.
With her at the bilateral were: the Coordinating Director, Ministry of Information and Civic Orientation, Mr Adebisi Popoola, the Director General, OSBC, Mrs Jumoke Akinjiola among other directors.
