Three illegal Chinese miners, currently on police bail, have threatened former Osun Commissioner of Police and current Special Adviser to Governor ADEGBOYEGA OYETOLA on Security, Mrs Abiodun Ige, at Ilesa.
The three expatriates, LIU YANGE, 36, LIU TI GANG, 28 YRS AND TANG AI TING, 50yrs and 21 other locals, were a few days ago, arrested while engaging in illegal mining activities at Ido-oko Ijesa.
Expert reports show that the town has been degraded and destroyed by the activities of illegal miners, who have also made the the entire community vulnerable to natural disasters.
In accordance with the Nigerian constitution, the suspects were later granted bail, but instead of showing remorse, they mobilized to harass the SA Security, who led the state enforcement team to the four local governments currently on lockdown.
The security operatives attached to the illegal miners went on to attack the former Commissioner of Police, Mrs Abiodun Ige and members of Amotekun adhoc corps with guns at close range, but the ex-CP and men of Amotekun Corps successfully disarmed the illegal miners’ security personnel.
As at the time of filing this report, the three Chinese illegal miners had been rearrested and brought to Osogbo, the state capital.
Residents of Ilesa, who spoke with newsmen, expressed shock and disappointment that expatriates and the security attached to them could threaten and attack the security chief and Amotekun men on Nigerian soil; calling on appropriate authorities to ensure that they were brought to book, accordingly.
In his reaction, the Director General, Amotekun corps, State of Osun, Comrade Amitolu Shittu, thanked God for saving the lives of the former CP and Amotekun volunteers; vowing not to succumb to any negative influence, no matter the level of threat or intimidation.
