Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke has tasked the affiliated agencies and parastatals of the ministry to ensure effective collaboration towards achieving the key developmental agenda of Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
He gave the charge while leading the management of the ministry alongside the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Rasak Adeosun on a courtesy visit to the Local Government Staff Pension Bureau (LGSPB) and Local Government Service Commission (LGSC).
According to him, the Ministry, as a supervising Ministry is ready to provide leadership for all the affiliated agencies, but there is need for understanding and periodic briefing to ensure that the ministry has every relevant information.
The Commissioner who noted that Governor Oyetola is always committed to the welfare of both retired and serving state and local workers, said for his vision to become a reality, all relevant stakeholders must key into his agenda.
In their respective responses, the Permanent Secretary, LGSPB, Mr Kayode Afolabi and the Chairman, LGSC, Elder Tunde Adedeji said, there was no alternative to collaboration toward the realisation of the government development agenda.
Commending the Governor for working tirelessly to tackle the challenges on the payment of pension and gratuities, Afolabi said the administration has shown commitment to ensure that the retired workers live a fulfilling lives after service.
According to him, the Governor has designed strategy for the payment of gratuities for the retired workers, saying other issues surrounding the payment of pension and gratuities are being addressed by the government, that the administration of Governor Oyetola holds the retired civil servants in high esteem, also that the Governor had given directive that all issues relating to their welfare should be given utmost priority.
Also, Elder Adedeji noted that the love of the Governor for civil servants was uncommon, saying, they are being encouraged from time to time to give their best in the service of the state.
He urged workers to reciprocate the gesture of the Governor by giving their best at the grassroots level, being the officials of the government closest to the people.
On the entourage of the Commissioner were the ministry’s Cordinating Director, Mr M.A. Akinpelu; Director of Finance and Administration, Director of Chieftaincy Matter, and Deputy Director for Local Government among others.
