Elders under the aegis of ‘Igbimo Agba’ in Osun State have counselled emerging politicians in the state to take a cue from the leadership style and governance model of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, adding that there is so much to learn from him.
The Chairman of the group, Engr. Shola Akinwunmi, speaking on Tuesday at the State Government House, described Oyetola as a courageous leader who has enthroned public goodwill above political sentiments.
Akinwunmi also lauded the maturity of Oyetola in focusing on the business of governance at the expense of responding to detractors.
This is as Committee of friends to Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Tuesday, presented both expression of interest and nomination forms to the Governor to enable him seek reelection in the 2022 gubernatorial election.
Recall that some chieftains of the All Progressives Congress and members of Oyetola’s cabinet stormed the party national secretariat on Tuesday, January 11, to pick Expression of Interest and Nomination Forms for the incumbent governor.
Engr. Akinwunmi, who congratulated Oyetola for the successes recorded in the last three years, described Oyetola as a sellable product whose quality speaks volume across the state.
“What anyone can describe as dividend of democracy is all over the State, and they are visible and verifiable.
“It is not for fun that elders, older politicians, and many groups are standing by him. He has done well for every group, especially the workers whose welfare has now been given premium attention.
“His emergence in Osun is synonymous to the State’s surge towards the promised land. It hasn’t been convenient but Oyetola’s commitment has been the difference.
“We are particularly happy that Osun has a leader who is disciplined enough not to banter words with those trying to distract him. He has proven himself a matured man, and showed himself serious-minded by focusing on the development of Osun despite the inimical actions of trouble makers.
“He has showed his class as a politician who is concerned with leaving a good legacy in Osun, rather than joining forces with those who are determined to ruin the fortunes of Osun.
“God is indeed behind those who are of righteous mind, and are willing to serve. Emerging politicians have a lot to learn from Oyetola”, Akinwunmi said
