The government of the state of Osun will commence the pre-construction phase of the Olaiya overpass with a three-hour demo closure of the Ogo-Oluwa-Olaiya-MDS corridor today between 2pm and 5pm.
Recall that the government had on Wednesday announced the demonstration closure between 2:00pm and 5:00pm on Friday, January 29 as part of the protocols for the commencement of the construction.
This followed the government’s earlier announcement of its intention to construct a flyover across the Fakunle-Olaiya, Odi Olowo-Olaiya, Akindeko-Olaiya and MDS-Olaiya intersections as part of measures to address traffic and safety issues in the axis.
The closure, according to the government, is a trial-performance for traffic control during the construction proper, which is set to commence in February.
About 110 officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Civil Defence Corps, the Police Force and the state’s O’Tram, have been strategically positioned along the diversion routes and critical locations (like Okefia, Olaiya, New Orisunmbare market area, Jaleyemi, Aregbe, Akindeko and Akinlade junctions, Capital, Lamido, etc.) to ensure compliance and orderliness.
