As part of the efforts of the State Government of Osun to recover looted properties from government and private facilities, the Osun State Police Command has said it had arrested 87 suspects for allegedly looting public and private properties in the State.
The Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Criminal Investigation Department, Adebola Hamzat, speaking while parading the suspects at the Command’s headquarters, said some of the looted items had been recovered, investigations on the suspects’ culpability were ongoing.
He added that as soon as investigations were concluded, the suspects would be arraigned in court.
Hamzat also called on the hoodlums who participated in the looting spree, to take advantage of the amnesty granted by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and return the looted items in their possession, adding that the 72-hour ultimatum given to them would lapse on October 28.
He stated that after the expiration of the ultimatum, anyone found with the looted items would be arrested and charged with armed robbery, conspiracy, brigandage, murder, housebreaking, stealing, receiving stolen property, and other sundry offenses.
