A call has gone to those in position of authority to honour the treaty which advocates and affirms at  least 30% representation for women during appointment into various positions in the society.

Under the aegis of Osun Women Advocate led by the immediate past Deputy Governor of the State of Osun, Mrs Titi Laoye Ponle, the group paid a courtesy visit to leaders of the All Progressives Congress including the State’s party Chairman, Prince Gboyega Famodun and also Chief Bisi Akande at his Ila Orangun residence.

Speaking on the reason for putting the group together, Mrs Ponle said women deserves better in the scheme of things, especially because women play active  and effective during electioneering, daring odds.

She said women would continue to be encouraged to participate in politics for the good of all because women are dependable allies in democracy.

According to her, “We have decided to put the Osun Women Advocate together because we have discovered that a lot of women are being marginalised when appointments are made and this is not fair on the women at all.

“We want this to stop, because as a group we will continue to encourage more women to participate in politics. They are the ones who make politics exciting and interesting for us all”. She stated.

Also speaking, former House of Representatives member, Hon. Ayo Omidiran lamented the fact that most women have been made to have the orientation that they are just materials to be used  during campaigns and dumped  thereafter.

In his response, APC Ceftain, Chief Adebisi Akande who noted that the role of women in politics can never be overemphasized assured them that things will definitely wear a new look as they will be given more consideration because of their unique roles in the society.

The former Governor of Osun then encouraged the women to continue to be steadfast and show love and support for the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola so as to move the state forward.

Other members of the Osun Women Advocates entourage were Commissioner for Women and Children Affairs, Barr. Olaboopo Olubukola, APC Women Leader, Alhaja Kudirat Fakokunde , former  Commissioner in the state, Mrs Remi Wilson, among others.
