The State of Osun House of Assembly has charged the Governing Board of the Osun State Security Network, codenamed Amotekun Corps, to exercise strong disposition to their function as a security apparatus in the State.
The Speaker of the State’s Parliament, Rt. Hon. Timothy Owoeye, speaking during the screening of the Governing Board, advised the Board to bring their combined experience in the armed forces to the fore in the new security arrangement.
He said: “The new security arrangement, when it fully becomes operational, is meant to complement subsisting security outfits. Synergy is required in the discharge of its functions. Establishment of harmonious working relationship with local hunters and vigilante in the fight against crimes is also necessary.”
While screening the governing board, the house commended the choice of the State Government in this regard, charging the nominees to leave up to the reputation that earned them the nomination.
In his reaction, the Chairman designate of the governing board, Brigadier Issa Ademola Aderibigbe (Rtd.), appreciated the executive and legislative arm of the government, adding that the Amotekun Corps in Osun will hoist a good standard after the example of other institutions under the current administration.
He added that the Corps will work for the common good of the people of Osun, and for the development of the State at large.
The Corps Commandant designate, Brigadier Bashir Biodun Adewinbi (Rtd.), said that the Corps will work with other security outfits in the State, to rid the State of criminals. Yes
