The Chairman of the Osun State Christian Association of Nigeria and Diocesan Bishop of Osogbo Diocese of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Rt. Reverend Amos Olu Ogunrinde, has lauded the Governor Adegboyega Oyetola’s government for its development and public welfare programmes, which he described as improving the lot of the State of Osun.
Ogunrinde, while delivering his welcome address at the 14th Annual Synod of the Methodist Church of Nigeria, Diocese of Osogbo, on Friday, commended Oyetola for not paying lip service to the issue of citizens’ welfare.
“We thank God for the present government of our State for taking the welfare of civil and public servants serious and making their wellbeing its priority. We have noted that Mr Adegboyega Oyetola and his team are not paying lip service to this at all, because since the inception of his administration up till now, salaries of workers are being paid in full and as at when due.
“Not only that, the embargo lifted on conversion, advancement, promotion, confirmation and career progression of the State civil and public servants by the government of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola is highly commendable.
“If the government would continue to match its words with actions as it has done so far, this would be one of the best things that has happened to us in the State of Osun”, Ogunrinde stated.
In his remarks, the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, described the focus on development and welfare as an expression of his administration’s commitment to revitalising the economy of the State.
Oyetola, who was represented by his deputy, Mr Benedict Alabi, said: “Our commitment to revitalising the Osun economy is what has influenced the prioritization of the massive upgrade of our health sector; the sustained Investment in infrastructural development, especially roads; our improved social protection interventions; the diversification of our economy through agriculture, tourism and mining, among others.
“We are resolute never to relent until we build a State that we all can truly be proud of. On our part as a government, we will continue to work hard for you, our people, to put our State on the pedestal of sustained socio-economic progress”, Oyetola stated.
