It was an emotional atmosphere on Sunday as vulnerable residents of Egbedore Local Government showered praises and prayers on Governor Adegboyega Oyetola and the 21-man Food and Relief Committee of the State for providing succour in their time of need.
They eulogized the Governor for coming to their aid through the Committee who have provided food for them to cushion the effect of the lockdown period.
Items distributed to the beneficiaries include rice beans, garri, semovita, noodles, among others.
“What would I have eaten this night” were the words of 76-year old Mrs Mariam Abioye of Bara compound, Aagberi shortly after receiving her portion of the palliative. She said there is no single grain of any kind of food in her house again as her children could no longer send her money because of the lockdown.
“I want to deeply appreciate the kind gesture of our loving Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola for thinking about us at this critical moment. I know the lockdown is for our own good and it is temporary. Oyetola does not want us to be infected by Coronavirus that’s why he asked us to stay home.
“And now he has given us food again, may God bless him for us and keep his family”, the joyous Mrs Araoye echoed.
In her reaction, Mrs Hammed Suliatu of Jagun compound, Ido-Osun said the most astonishing for her is the manner in which the items got to her without having to struggle before getting it.
She said, “I need to commend the transparent manner in which this distribution has been made. I got the food items in a very easy manner; my name was called and verified and the the items were handed over to me without any stress. God will continue to bless our Governor and continue to give him wisdom and understanding”.
Pa Lamidi Bisiriyu of Ofatedo said it is worthy of mention that Governor Oyetola has deemed it necessary to feed the poorest of the poor despite all the pressures and challenges the Covid-19 pandemic has brought to him and his cabinet.
He said only a caring governor could take time out to inaugurate the Food and Relief Committee in the midst of the pressure of the deadly virus, stressing that the Governor loves his people.
“Despite the pressure and challenges occasioned by the Coronavirus pandemic, our Governor thought it necessary to feed the vulnerable in the society. He went ahead and inaugurated a committee to provide this food that I have gotten today. Oyetola is not an ordinary man, he is definitely God-sent”, Pa Bisiru stated.
Among the 786 beneficiaries is 80-year old Pa Sunday Olayiwola who said Governor Oyetola has through the action demonstrated the love and affection which other leaders should emulate in governance, stressing that the item has put smiles on his face.
“You can see me smiling, it’s because I am happy that I have been given food. Oyetola is banishing hunger in our land and I am so happy. May God continue to bless him.
In the words of Mrs Fashakin Folasade, “Oyetola has done something that will not let me die of hunger and I pray that God will continue to be with him. I have been experiencing hunger for some days past but God has used our Governor for me so I am very grateful.
“If you have ever experienced hunger you will understand what I mean. Oyetola has just saved me from hunger. I thank God and I thank our Governor,” she stated.
Reacting in his Palace, the Alawo of Awo, Oba Musa Olatunbosun while commending Governor Oyetola for the kind gesture explained that beneficiaries of the palliatives will forever be grateful to the governor for providing succor to them in their time of need.
