Barr. Olaboopo mentioned that in the last few weeks, four cases of child rape were reported, she lamented the incessantness of the abuse but vowed that no stone would be left unturned by the State in bringing culprits to justice.

She identified government efforts so far on these cases mentioning that the monarch and the two other men who took turns on a 13year old girl have been arraigned in Court and are presently in prison custody.

She added that the culprit in the newest case of a 10year old in Ila is in government custody and would be arraigned in court any moment as arrangements are in top gear. She added that both girls are in good care receiving medical attention and recuperating well. ”They will be taken for series of clinical psychology sessions as soon as they’re more stable to rid them of emotional trauma”, she mentioned

The Honourable Commissioner while urging law enforcement agencies to commit more to the course of ending this heinous crime, appreciated the Commissioner of Police in the State, CP Kokumo for his cooperation and proactiveness in fighting the menace.

She reiterated that parents should keep extra eye on their children/wards to reduce their vulnerability to abuses. She added that abusers are always on the parade seeking innocent children to perch on. She identified that most often than not abusers are people very close to the children or their families.
