The State Government of Osun has issued a restriction order on proliferation and unauthorised use of Osun Government official number Plates by some unscrupulous persons with the intent of playing to the gallery to escape or boycotting security check points.
The restriction order that prohibits the proliferation and unauthorised use of State of Osun Government official number plates was disclosed in a press statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government of Osun,Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji.
According to the statement,the Governor of the State of Osun,Mr Adegboyega Oyetola had frowned at the damning attendant effect of such an unholy practice considering security threats facing the state and by extension the country.
The statement explained further that,the State Government of Osun is conscious of the security situation of the country,hence the need to be proactive in guiding against any security breach in the State.
As part of the Security measures, Governor Oyetola has therefore directed all relevant government authorities to conduct thorough scrutiny of all vehicles marked with State of Osun Government number plates to ascertain genuineness of the issuing authority .
The statement warned that any unauthorised user of the official number plates caught will be appropriately prosecuted.
Meanwhile,in another development,the Police Authority has placed embargo on the covering of number plates of vehicles nationwide.
The embargo is owing to ample intelligence received that some groups of unscrupulous elements are working on undermining the peace and tranquillity being enjoyed in the country.
The statement by the SSG,Prince Oluwole Oyebamiji,therefore urged all the people of the state of Osun including Government officials to abide by the embargo so as to bring the barefaced criminals in the public domain to book not minding their status in the society.
