The Government of the State of Osun, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola has proposed a developmental agenda for local governments In order to develop all local government areas in the state.

Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Prince Adebayo Adeleke, stated this at an Interactive Retreat for chairmen of local governments in the state, held at Mic Com Gulf Hotels and Resort, Ada, themed; “Challenge of Governance at the grassroot”.

Prince Adeleke said that the agenda is necessary to allow the council develop in line with the developmental guarantee development of the staff redistribution policy of the government to ensure that all revenue available to some local governments are not drained by payment of salary alone than others due to large workforce.

According to him, the first challenge for the governance at the local government level is the issue of NFIU policy on fiscal autonomy to councils, saying that is why the present administration has developed a policy for the staff redistribution because the salary payment is draining the entire revenue of some councils due to large population of workforce.
