In a bid to further allay the fears of the people in Osun over commercial motorcycle transport system, the Acting Secretary, Osun office of Transportation, Engr. Bilal Adiat has assured the union leaders of the State Commercial Motorcycle Transportation Union of Nigeria that government will soon complete works on the provision of rider cards and reflection jackets for all Okada riders in Osun for easy identification of their members.
This development emanated following the recent restriction order placed on ‘Okada’ riders in Lagos State.
Engr Adiat gave the assurance today while holding a security and peace meeting with the amalgamation of Okada Union. He said Government can achieve more with their peaceful co-existence.
The Acting Secretary requested the Union leaders to collate lists of all Okada riders for government to have accurate data base, for security reasons and as a matter of urgency.
Reacting on behalf of the Unions, Alhaji Ismail Tiamiyu commended Governor Oyetola for his concerns towards okada riders and the security of life and property in Osun and promised continuous support for the APC -led administration in the State.
