Chief Jelili Adegoke Raheem, who brought an assault charge against one Superintendent Ezekiel Dayo, a police officer serving in the State of Osun, before the Judicial Panel of Inquiry against Police Brutality, Human Rights Violation and Related Extra Judicial Killings, has dropped his charge against the officer.

The Panel has also struck out the petition based on the development.

This followed an amicable settlement between the petitioner and the respondent prior to the next adjourned date of the case.

Recall that the petitioner, Chief Jelili Adegoke Raheem, had reported that he was beaten to pulp by one Superintendent Ezekiel Dayo, a police officer serving in the State, on 2nd of October, 2020, around 10:00pm when he was exiting a motor-park at Oke-Baale, Osogbo.

The petitioner reported that the incident landed him in the hospital, and that he lost a sum of N100,000 kept in his vehicle during the incident.

But on Friday, the petitioner said that the concerned officer had apologised to him for the unfair treatment and pleaded for an amicable settlement.

“The concerned officer has approached me to apologise for what he did to me. And I have decided to allow peace reign. I am satisfied with his plea, with the understanding that he conducts his service to the country with utmost fairness and responsibility to citizens”, Jelili stated.
