The Osun State Police Command has identified, arrested and retained the police officer who shot an unarmed truck driver in Ota Efun area of Osogbo, on Friday.
Recall that Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, earlier on Saturday, had called for an immediate investigation of the circumstances leading to the event and charged the State Commissioner of Police to produce the alleged killer and make him face the full wrath of the law.
In a press release signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Yemisi Opalola, on Saturday night, Osun Police Command announced that it has arrested and detained Sergeant Moses Samuel who shot at the victim at Ota-Efun area of the State capital.
According to the release: “Investigation and disciplinary actions have commenced and the suspect will be arraigned in court after completion of the Orderly Room Trial. This we hope will serve as deterrent to other officers of his likes.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP Olawale Olokode, is using this medium to express his condolences to the victim’s family, colleagues at work, and friends, and pray to God to put an end to this kind of unfortunate incident. He also assures members of the public that justice will be served”, the release read in part.
