Osun residents, particularly the young ones, have been admonished to take advantage of the Valentine season to know their HIV status,as it marks the entry point for prevention and treatment of HIV/AIDS among the people.
This admonition was contained in a Valentine message issued by the Executive Secretary of the State Agency for the Control of AIDS,Dr Monsur Bello, who warned the youth against late diagnosis which, according to him, could lead to terminal complications.
While observing that the Valentine period is noted for young and impressionable folks “erroneously expressing love” to one another through unprotected sex, Dr Bello admonished the young ones to rather express love within the context of deeply caring for their loved ones by avoiding acts that could make them vulnerable to HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases.
He then implored all and sundry to contact O-SACA office in Osogbo for free distribution of condom.
