In preparation for the smooth take-off of the Osun Food Support Scheme initiated by the Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, a Ministerial meeting to fine tune how the Food distribution exercise would be carried out by stakeholders at State, Local and Wards Level has been held .
The meeting was called at the instance of the seven-member Food Support Committee which has the state Commissioner for Regional Integration and Special Duties, Hon. Olalekan Badmus as its Chairman.
Attended by stakeholders drawn from different local government areas of the state, the inaugural meeting held at the Conference Room, Ministry of Information and Civic Orietatation in Osogbo on Tuesday
Speaking , the Chairman of the Committee in the State, Hon. Olalekan Badmus explained that the purpose of setting up the Committee by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola is to give support to the vulnerable members in the state.
The commissioner added that the scheme is targeting 30,000 vulnerable people who will be supported with food items on a monthly basis..
Hon. Badmus who noted that the assignment was a critical one , called on all stakeholders to work together to ensure the success of the scheme.
While disclosing the names of critical groups to be carried along in the distribution of the food items at Local Government and Ward levels, the Chairman also listed the would be beneficiaries to include representatives of Christian Association Of Nigeria(CAN), Muslim Community, Artisans, Widows and people with one form of disability or the other.
Others listed are traditional worshipers, students and youth representatives, market women and men (Iyaloja and Babaloja) in the state, among others.
Badmus who emphasised that beneficiaries would be verified thoroughly, called on the Local and Ward committee members to handle the exercise with ultmost care for transparency and accountability to be achieved.
He then disclosed that Tuesday, March 30 has been slated for the official flag-off ceremony the scheme.
The Food Support distribution template to be used by each Local Government Area was thereafter given to each Local Government Committee representives####
Oyetola Sues for religious tolerance as he receives Award of Excellence from Patriotic Pastors Fellowship of
The Governor of the State of Osun Mr Adegboyega Oyetola,has admonished all the leaders of various religions to continue to work together for the overall development of the state.
Governor Oyetola gave the admonition at a one-day special conference and prayers for the government and people of the state of Osun .
The theme of the program which held at the Conference Hall of the Local Government Service Commission , State Secretariat , was “Religious leaders’ impact in government” .
It was organized by Patriotic Pastors Fellowship of Nigeria, State of Osun Chapter.
Receiving the award on behalf of the State Governor, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola,the Special Adviser to the Governor on Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Hon Rasaki Adeosun, appreciated the wisdom of the organisers stressing that it couldn’t have come at a better time.
Mr Oyetola similarly observed that the program alone would go a long way in correcting the many misgivings and misconceptions between the church and the state.
Governor Oyetola who emphasised that the cordial relationship between his government and practitioners of different religious sects in the state has not only brought unity and cooperation but serves as a catalyst for the development of the state in all sectors.
Apart from the state helmsman, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola who was given an award of excellence by the Patriotic Pastors Fellowship of Nigeria, other notable personalities in the state that smiled home with one award or the other at the occasion were the state Deputy Governor, Mr Benedict Alabi ,SUBEB Chairman in the state,Hon Ajibola Famurewa and Chairman Local Government Service Commission, Elder Tunde Adedeji.
Special prayers were earlier held for the government and people of the State of Osun and Nigeria as a whole.
