The leadership and members of Tijaniyyah Grassroot Mobilisation and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria, on Saturday, expressed their readiness to work with and support the administration of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in Osun, saying that all they had heard and seen were good things happening in Osun in the last three years.
The group, during the inauguration of its executives in Osun on Saturday, especially lauded Oyetola’s commitment to the welfare of workers and citizens since assuming office.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Secretary of the group’s Board of Trustees, Professor Sharafadeen Omotayo Amuda, said the mission of the organisation is to liberate its members from poverty, adding that part of the steps taken to achieve their mission was to mobilise their members through empowerment and education.
He described Oyetola’s achievements as governor of Osun in the last three years, as one of critical interventions, the kind that tally with their organisation’s objectives.
“We really appreciate your efforts in Osun state. You aren’t ‘baba afusa’ (one who pays half salary). Since your emergence as governor, you have been paying full salaries to workers. This is a great feat. You may not fully understand its impact on the people”, Amuda said.
Also in his remark, Sheikh Ahmad-Tijani Sanni Auwalu, member of the organisation’s Board of Trustee from Kano, commended Oyetola’s interventions in education, youth empowerment, farmers’ empowerment, employment, among other interventions.
According to Auwalu: “People are really happy around the country with Osun state, and other states are taking a cue from Osun on how it is addressing developmental issues”.
In his response, Governor Adegboyega Oyetola commended the leadership and members of Tijaniyyah Grassroot Mobilisation and Empowerment Initiative of Nigeria for identifying with the good works going on in Osun.
He called on the group to support the government’s programmes and policies, saying that there are loads of benefits to reap from collaborative efforts.
“We will happily collaborate with a responsible and peace-loving organisation like yours for the development of the State. I am impressed with the way you have comported yourselves and as a son of an Imam myself, I know what your organization is about. Ours is also a responsible government and we like to work with focused groups that are passionate about people’s welfare. I am a man of my words. I do not renege on my promises. If we work together, we are certain to reap the benefits that our collaboration will produce together.
“If we journey together with sincerity of purpose and intention, we can be assured of God’s blessings, which will bring development to our State far greater than what we have experienced even in the past three years”, Oyetola promised.
