Former Health Minister, former Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, and the chairman of the newly-constituted Governing Board of the Osun State University Teaching Hospital (formerly LAUTECH Teaching Hospital), has said Osun will soar higher with Oyetola’s reelection as governor of the state in the July 2022 polls.
Speaking during the inauguration of the Governing Board of the teaching hospital, Adewole lauded Oyetola for his unprecedented works across different sectors, particularly in the health sector.
He described Oyetola’s intervention in the sector as one that has both improved quality of healthcare delivery in the State, adding that the state was set for higher flying with Oyetola’s reelection.
Adewole also lauded Oyetola for assembling people of exemplary personal and professional attributes in the board, assuring that the board was set to deliver a world class teaching hospital.
He called on members to commit to the mandate of the Oyetola administration for the purpose of improving the lot of the health sector and Osun State in general.
In his remark, the governor of Osun, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, described the inauguration of the newly-constituted board as a testament to the resolve of his Administration to continually uplift tertiary healthcare provision to complement primary healthcare with a view to achieving adequate, quality, affordable and equitable healthcare as contained in the State’s Development Agenda.
According to Oyetola: “This is why our Administration has shown unusual dedication to the transformation of the health sector, as characterized by the construction and revitalization of all primary healthcare centers across all the wards of our State, the commencement of the consolidated medical scale, to the rehabilitation of our general hospitals, among others.
“In this regard, we have also carefully nurtured the development of our Health Insurance Scheme, so as to make it vibrant, responsive, innovative and sensitive to the yawning health needs of our people.
“I am immensely proud to note today that the Osun Health Insurance Scheme is not only fulfilling its statutory functions, but has also become a poster organization in the comity of state-led Health Insurance schemes around the country.
“You will note that we have also considerably invested in the welfare of our medical personnel. The almost completed 120-bed ward, the doctors quarters, among other interventions stand tall as measures of our determined transformation of the health sector for the benefits of our people.
“When you place all these side by side with Osun’s fully-owned Teaching Hospital, after our successful disengagement from the joint ownership of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, from the Oyo State government, what we have is an ensemble of highly qualitative healthcare infrastructure that can adequately and qualitatively serve our teeming population.
“Added to these is the multi-billion naira state-of-the-art, brand new Teaching Hospital (please find out what she actually donated, Sir) donated by Chief Folorunso and Mr. Modupe Alakija. What we now have is a wholesome turnaround of our health sector.
“So, you can now understand why we can not settle for less but do absolutely rely on the impeccable pedigree of the Governing Board for UNIOSUN Teaching Hospital to give direction and guidance in a manner that will provide excellent service at the tertiary level of healthcare delivery and achieve our goal of delivering outstanding healthcare for our people”, he said.
