A member of the Osun State House of Assembly representing Olorunda constituency, Hon. Kunle Akande, has urged the youths of the State to continue to support Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, describing him as a rare leader who means well for the people of Osun.
Akande, while speaking at the graduation ceremony of youths and women in his constituency who had undergone skills acquisition programmes organised by him, said Oyetola is driven by a visi9n to take the State to a greater height, and so deserves much support.
He also admonished the beneficiaries of the empowerment scheme to make the best out of the trainungs received in a bid to support their families and further reduce unemployment and poverty index in the state.
According to him: “It is pay back time for my constituency. I gave a promise that I will make the empowerment of young ones a priority, and today, 26 people have been trained in various skills like hairdressing, fashion designing, and batik dressmaking. They have also been given the tools needed, which include 13 sewing machines, eight dryers and batik equipment for ghe others.
“I admonish other people who are yet to benefit from the empowerment scheme to be patient, they will be included as time goes on.
“We should be careful not to see this gesture as a political patronage, but as a gesture that will go a long way to help the economy of the state.
“I implore the beneficiaries to put the acquired skillsnto work and to make good use of the equipment that have been donated. I want to congratulate those that benefited from the gesture and I admonish other political office holders to emulate same”, Akande stated.
While issuing the certificates of completion to participants, Deputy Governor of the State of Osun, Mr Benedict Alabi, congratulated the beneficiaries, urging them to make judicious use of the equipment.
Alabi also commended the lawmaker for the good gesture, stating that Hon. Akande has done well by ensuring that he put smiles on the faces of the people of his constituency.
He took advantage of the programme to sensitise participants on the need to always adhere strictly to COVID-19 preventive measures in order to avoid a resurgence of the pandemic in the state.
He also appealled to members of citizens to continue to conduct themselves in peaceful manner and desist from anything capable of causing crisis in the State.
