The State Government of Osun has expressed its readiness to continue to partner with Old Student Associations of schools across the state towards developing the state’s education sector for enviable results. Prince Abdullah Binuyo the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor of Osun State gave this assurance while commissioning the newly constructed gate of the Baptist Girls High School Osogbo by the institution’s Old Girls Association.
Binuyo who represented Governor Adegboyega Oyetola at the event lauded the unity and cooperation of the Old Girls , some of whom were in their 80s but still made it to the event. Binuyo also received the new uniforms donated to the school on behalf of the government.
” This is really impressive and I congratulate this Old Girls Association for their sacrifices to make all this happen. Today has shown once again the the Education Policy Review was a good move. All we ask is continued support for the government and we promise to continue to partner with Old Students Associations to improve our schools and indeed the education sector. ” Binuyo said.
Commissioner for Education, Hon. Folorunso Oladoyin while speaking during the event said the intervention of the association will go a long way in complementing the efforts of the state Government towards the provision of equitable and quality education to the future generation as Government cannot do it alone.
Oladoyin assured that the present adminstration places a high premium on education as fundamental rights of all and will not relent in its efforts towards qualitative education delivery in the State.
While congratulating the old students on the occasion, Oladoyin said, ” I wish you many more years of fulfillment of your vision, I also on behalf of the State Government commend you for your immense contributions to humanity, particularly in the education sector and implore you to continue to be progressive, loyal and supportive to the State”
The school uniforms and gate project were handed over by the President of the Old Girls Association , Prof Laide Adedokun.
Speaking earlier, the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, who is also an old student of Baptist Girls High School Osogbo,explained that the school has had a lot of positive impacts on her and appreciated the State Government for returning the school to its former glory.
Egbemode also appreciated other members of the old students association for making themselves available to grace the occasion.
While commissioning the projects the Deputy Chief of Staff, Abdulahi Binuyo appreciated the old students for their enormous contribution to the school and assured that the partnership between the Government and old students will continue to grow.
In her welcome remarks, the school Principal, Mrs Esther Mosobolaje while appreciating the State Government for returning the school back to its ‘single sex secondary school’ status, commended the contributions of the old students to the development of the school.
