Monarchs and citizens across towns, communities and villages in Irewole-Isokan-Ayedaade, Ife and Ila federal constituencies, have commended Osun governor, Adegboyega Oyetola, as a promise keeper, assuring him that his reelection is sure.
This is as Oyetola embarked on a Strategic Engagement Tour across the nine federal constituencies of the State, beginning with Irewole-Isokan-Ayedaade on Tuesday, Ife East-Ife Central-Area Office (Modakeke) on Wednesday, and Ifedayo-Boluwaduro-Ila on Thursday.
The Strategic Engagement Tour is sequel to the ‘Thank You Tour’ conducted by Oyetola at the inception of his administration and also an opportunity to consult with Party loyalists ahead of February 19 governorship primaries of the All Progressive Congress, following his receipt of nomination form purchased for him by his political associates to recontest for second term.
The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, applauded Governor Adegboyega Oyetola for walking his talk and for his faithfulness to his electoral promises.
Oba Ogunwusi, who was represented by Obalufe of Ile-Ife, Oba Idowu Adediwura, appreciated the good works the Governor has done to transform the State since assumption of office, expressing confidence that the people of the State would reciprocate his gesture by returning him for a second term.
Similarly, the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Oba Moses Oladejo Oyediran, assured the Governor of maximum support and cooperation, saying the entire Modakeke town would stop at nothing to re-elect him.
The monarch who showered royal blessings on the Governor and his entourage said his subjects are pleased with him and are committed to progressive cause because of his prompt and timely socioeconomic interventions aimed at changing the face of the town.
Corroborating the monarch, the President, Modakeke Progressive Union, Julius Odegbemi, said the Union would do everything possible to support the Governor before, during and after the election.
“We want to assure you that we are for you and having said that, it has become our resolution. We want to appreciate your Government for all you have been doing to uplift the socioeconomic and infrastructural status of our town. You have indeed shown your keen interest not only in our town but in our sons and daughters as manifested in the key positions they occupy.
“We commend you for reconstructing Famia road. The gesture has helped to impact greatly the lives of our people as it has contributed significantly to their socioeconomic welfare and well-being. We want more infrastructural developments in Modakeke”, he added.
In Irewole, the Akire of Ikire, Oba Olatunde Falabi, specifically thanked Governor Oyetola for restoring peace to his town after a protracted 34-year royal tussle, declaring his unalloyed support for him and his Administration.
He said: “if not for any other reason, we must forever be grateful to you and your Administration for permanently putting an end to the royal tussle that lasted for decades. Restoring peace to our land is a thing that the people of Ikire and its environs will be forever grateful for in view of what we have experienced so far. We thank God today that, through you, there is relative peace and tranquility.
“We are aware of your monumental achievements in the last three years, and we are confident that you will do more as we continue to support you and your government”, Akire added.
Also, the Alapomu of Apomu, Oba Kayode Adenekan Afolabi, thanked the Governor for approving his nomination to be the king of the ancient town, saying, “Going by your good works, you deserve to be returned to serve for another term. I have confidence in you and your government. Your government made me to be here today.
“If the stool was given to a wrong person, the town won’t be as good as it is today. We know you are conscious of us and you have us at heart. That is why we always give you our support”, Oba Afolabi said.
In Ayedaade, the Olufi of Gbongan, Oba Adetoyese Oyeniyi, applauded the Governor for fulfilling all the electoral promises made to the people.
According to Oba Oyeniyi: “You didn’t disappoint us. Recently, you approved the appointment of the Vice Chancellor of Osun State University who is our own. We acknowledge your prompt payment of salaries. You have served with a lot of dedication, not selfishness. We are proud of you. You have changed the narrative. We thank you for prioritising social investment programmes that have culminated to monthly food support for the vulnerable citizens.
“You have allayed our fears. We were worried as to how to pay salaries before your emergence. But today, God has made it possible for you. I commend you for your huge investment in security that had brought about relative peace to our state. We don’t have any doubt in you because you have been loyal and committed to our cause.
“We appreciate your swift response to issues, and in the face of provocation you maintain a cool head. You have allowed God to fight for you. I like someone like you to be at the helms of affairs. Despite paucity of funds, you have consistently been doing staff promotion just as you recently recruited new teachers. We are grateful for having a cool-headed Governor and a service- oriented man like you at this time. Things would have been difficult if it was otherwise.”
The Orangun of Ila, Oba Oyedokun, who applauded the good works of the governor said his achievements in the last three years were enough testimonies for him to be reelected. He said with the support of God and people of the State, Oyetola will triumph over his detractors.
“We are ready to do everything humanly possible to ensure your victory, we are going to support you, we are going to ensure your victory and I am confident that my people will vote for you overwhelmingly.
“We are proud of what you have done and your achievements are enough testimonies to earn you another term in office. Don’t despair, our ancestors confronted travails and they emerged triumphantly, you shall overcome yours too. Your detractors will witness your success and you will triumph over them”, Orangun assured.
Similarly, Owa of Otan-Ayegbaju, Oba Lukman Adesola Ojo-Fadipe, said in the last three years, the Governor had not left anyone in doubt of his capacity to redefine and transform the State.
He added that: “God brought you to power at the point of need, at a time the people of the State were yearning for socioeconomic stability. We thank God today that you have brought the desired change.
“You have demonstrated your capacity to take us to the promised land. We thank you for all you have done, we have seen your modest achievements. Your infrastructural interventions, commitment to regular payment of salaries as well as the appointment of noble citizens particularly the indigenes of our town to government positions, are highly commendable.
“We have been seeing all you are doing. You have restored peace to traditional council. We are receiving our entitlements regularly, not only that, you have taken our welfare and that of workers as priority.”
Corroborating this, the Oluresi of Iresi, Oba Sikiru Adeseun Ibiloye and Orangun of Oke-Ila, Oba Omoniyi Adedokun Abolarinwa, declared their support for the Governor saying “to whom much is given, much is expected.”
