The Special Adviser to Osun Governor on Civic Engagement, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye has Charged the newly appointed Osun Community Relation Officers (CRO) to be more dedicated to work in order to lift education in the State to a greater hight.

Oyintiloye gave the charge in Osogbo at the meeting held with the Community Relation Officers where he disclosed that, the job of the CROs is to reach the people at the grassroots and monitor how teachers are working effectively in all Schools across the state.

Oyintiloye further charged the CROs to go to their Local Government Areas and educate people on the giant strides recorded by Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the State adding that if people are not aware of the developments, it will be difficult for the residents of Osun to know how the government is fearing.

The Special Adviser also urged them to keep themselves abreast of happenings in their respective areas and give feedback to the Government in order for the Government to do the needful, stressing that by so doing, people will be able to enjoy benefits of democracy.

He further disclosed that the appointment of the C R Os in the State is a welcome development, saying it’s like putting the round peg in a round hole and that the CROs are the grassroots politicians who could reach people at the rural areas stressing that desemination of Information must be thourogh. He therefore mandated all C R Os to gather the data of all Teachers in the State.

According to him, “The CROs are the people that are more closer to the people at the grassroot and they are one of the tools Governor Oyetola want to use to reach people at the grassroot.

“As far as Civic Engagement is concern, it’s one of the fundamental principles that government will use to deepen the bond between the people and the Government.

“Talking about educational policy review in the State, the review of the policy is in line with the agitation of the people, and as a listening leader who doesn’t want his people to be left out, and committed to democratic structure in which he believes that, if you listen to the yearnings of the people and you do want they want, they will see you as a good leader. In as much as people agitated for some of the policies to be amended or changed, the Governor doesn’t have a choice than to listen to the people.

“I advice the CROs to be closer to their people, educate, evaluate and interface with people at the grassroot in respect of the policy and programmes of the Government. A lot of things are being done by the Government but, it is not been felt at the Community level. Therefore, you should do more in the area of public enlightenment.

“You should also move closer to the Association of Teachers, Parents, Students and they must see themselves as links in which the Government at the Center can get feedback of the feelings and yearnings of the people at the grassroot”. He explained.

Oyintiloye however assured them that government will provide a dedicated line with which they can call at anytime for feedback.
