Coronavirus: All public gatherings banned in Osun

The Government of the State of Osun  has decided to place an immediate ban on all  gatherings that would bring together 50 or more persons in the same place.

This is part of our response to the coronavirus emergency currently ravaging the whole world.

The ban means that all schools, primary, secondary and tertiary are by this statement closed down until further notice. Church services, prayers in mosques and all events that will have more than 50 people in attendance are also prohibited.

These measures take immediate effect and will be in place  until further notice.

Security agents will be on hand to ensure compliance.

I advise the citizenry not to panic, especially because no case has been recorded in the state so far. We arrived at this decision after a wide consultation with health professionals and other stakeholders in the health sector over COVID-19 pandemic.

Almighty God will protect all of us.

Signed

Mr Adegboyega Oyetola

Governor,  State of Osun
