Governor of Osun State, Mr Adegboyega Oyetola, has lauded Teachers across the world and in the state particularly, saying no nation can develop without them.
He also appreciated Osun teachers for aligning with the vision of his administration to take education many notches higher.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Funke Egbemode, on Wednesday, to commemorate the year’s edition of World’s Teachers’ Day.
Oyetola, who paid glowing tributes to teachers in the state, acknowledged their immense contributions in raising responsible citizens, building solid foundation for future developments over the years. The governor went on to call on talents across different fields, especially youths in the state, to join the teaching profession which he described as noble.
“On our own part, we have endeavoured to strengthen the profession by recruiting a total of 2,500 teachers in less than four years to address the manpower deficit the sector has endured over the years. We have also improved the welfare of teachers in recognition of their sacrifices and invaluable service.
“All these speak to our commitment to taking education many notches higher inspite of daunting odds. We use this occasion to once again appreciate teachers across the state who have kept faith with us on this journey.
“We have no doubt that the efforts of our teachers will help our dear state, the state of the virtuous, achieve new heights across different fields of human endeavour.
“We join other well-meaning individuals across the world, especially those who have had the privilege of being impacted by the formal teaching community, to celebrate our teachers and wish them the best as they continue to make selfless investments for the improvement of humanity”, the statement read.
