The African Church in Osun State has said the church was grateful for bringing Governor Adegboyega Oyetola to Osun State at this critical point in the history of the state.
The Bishop of the Ife Diocese, Rt. Reverend Michael Olufemi Adeyemi, speaking on behalf of the African Church in Osun State, extolled the unprecedented achievements of Oyetola in the last three years, commending the governor for fulfilling the scriptural injunction that when the righteous rule, the people rejoice.
“All thanks to God who brought you in as our Governor, you did not only stabilized the system, you as well restored its lost glory. Today, not only are we proud of the standard of our education, teachers, students, we parents are now very happy with you as our Governor and your government.
The Church, while lauding intervention of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola in the health sector, among several other sectors of the economy, said the drastic reduction in the death rate of its members wasn’t solely a function of prayers, but also a function of government’s intervention in health sector, adding that there had also been improvement in birth rate in the Church.
Recall that Oyetola’s administration, as part of its intervention in the health sector, revitalised 332 Primary Health Centres in each of the political wards across the State. The administration also launched and financed the Osun Health Insurance Scheme for vulnerable citizens across the State.
Adeyemi, also paid glowing tributes to the multi-sectoral achievements of the Oyetola administration. He said: “Some years back our educational system was in complete disarray, it was practically heading towards total collapse, confusion in both Primary and Secondary schools administration as well as in teaching and learning component of our education.
“Accessibility to healthcare facilities has generally been identified as a major indicator of development. In Osun state under your governance, the indicator in this sector is very high and very effective. The Primary Healthcare Centers are available in all our rural areas on one per ward basis, this is highly commendable.
“Your health Insurance Scheme in the state is a welcome development. In our own church, I can authoritatively tell you that death rate has dropped drastically. The statistical data submitted by our clergies at the end of last year showed that birth rate was far higher than the death rate. It is not only as a result of our prayers, it is also because your government has also improved its healthcare delivery system. Your Excellency these two together successfully reduced our mortality rate in our dear Omoluabi state.
“Olaiya Flyover Bridge here in the state capital is a further testimony to your excellent performance in office. No doubt some people will be saying it is a waste of the state resources, I will advise them not to fly over it. To us in The African Church, it is a right step in the right direction as it has already added to the beauty and development of our state capital.
“There are other roads your government has equally delivered for our use, if I want to go to Ejigbo now I can close my eyes and before you know it I am there. We appreciate you greatly Mr. Governor, God will bless you and your team for all these initiatives.
“Your Excellency, Osun state is now very peaceful unlike what people went through few years ago. Teachers, Civil Servants even Pensioners are getting their dues as expected. You have put an end to their years of lamentations. Security wise Osun people are sleeping with their two eyes closed”, he said.
Adeyemi, who commented on the 2022 election in Osun, said the people of Osun are in greater need of the return of Mr Adegboyega Oyetola as governor of Osun State for a second term, adding that he has proven his mettle as an Omoluabi in the last three years.
He described Oyetola as a leader who has made his mark in the history of the State, stating that he does not need a second term in office to prove a point but the people need him to continue the good works he has begun.
He continued: “Your Excellency, it is not you that actually needed the second term, you have made your mark in the history of Osun state, it is we the people of Osun state that indeed needed your second term. And as far as we are concerned in The African Church in Osun state we will work for your second term.
“We shall encourage our members to ensure you are return to continue your good works. On our part as Clergies, we shall engage our God in prayers to grant us your second term. On no account we will allow those who are not Omoluabi to govern this our Omoluabi state again”, he added
