The indigenes of Osun State living in Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, have expressed their determination to return home during the July 16 gubernatorial election in the State to vote for the incumbent governor, Adegboyega Oyetola.
The indigenes, who stormed the national secretariat of the All Progressive Congress on Wednesday, singing and dancing with Oyetola’s posters in their hands, lauded the Osun governor for his sterling performances across every sector in the last three years of his administration.
In his remark, Oke Suleiman, from Ayedaade Local Government Area, who is the Coordinator of Cooperatives for Osun Indigenes in Abuja, said the indigenes were happy with the developments happening in Osun under Oyetola’s government, adding that their support for the governor was a token of their appreciation for a job well done.
According to him: “We have seen the performances of our governor, the able Governor Adegboyega Oyetola. He has performed so well and positively, and that is why we are throwing our weight behind him.
“We are not politicians, but we are lovers of what is good, and if someone is good, we need to appreciate such a person and make people realise his efforts. By the grace of God, we are hopeful for another four years in office for him because of his performances.
“I haven’t lost touch with what is happening in Osun despite being in Abuja. My brother is a youth leader in Gbongan, I also have other people I contact to get information, and the testimonies have been the same. These are what form the basis of my assurance that he is going to win the election and return to office to continue the good work.
“I, as an individual, am going back home to vote for him. 85 percent of our people here have also registered in their respective places of origin and will be returning home to vote when the time comes.
“Everyone of us standing here are Osun indigenes, not hired crowd. Our status could be verified from our liaison office. So, this can give you a fair idea of what we are talking about. No one has forced us to do what we are doing, no one is paying us for coming out. We are simply lovers of what is good”, Oke said.
